Over the past month I have had the pleasure of testing out these Chromatek Paint Markers. I have used Chromatek items before so I was very excited to be asked to be part of this campaign. Below I am going to give a detailed review filled with pictures and videos to show you not only how they are packaged but also how they preform.
The Chromatek Paint Markers come packaged beautifully in two different cases. The first outer case is a black carrying case that has a handle on the top, This makes to easy to store and carry the Markers on the go to use when travelling. The second case is a harder more structured plastic case. This case holds the pens more organised to keep them in rows of 6. The Plastic case fits nicely inside the black case so they can be both used together or separately depending on personal preference.
Once inside of the packaging you can see that the Chromatek Paint Marker pack comes with a large variety of colours. These colours range from black and white to multiple shades of the same colour. This large variety will allow you to get as much detail through shades into your work.
Each pen inside the packaging comes individually wrapped. I loved this idea because this meant I would only need to open the markers that I needed to use. With them being pain markers I was worried about how the pain would stay fresh and wet. Not only are they individually wrapped they are come with a tightly sealing lid, this helps to keep the pain inside from drying up, so if you do use these markers be sure to close the cap tightly.
On the side of the box there is a colour chart of all the colours that are included, I decided to put this to the test and see how closely the colours matched.
List of colours included in the pack:
1. MAROON 11. SKY BLUE 21. ORANGE
2. RED 12. TURQUOISE 22. CHESTNUT BROWN
3. DARK PINK 13. PASTEL GREEN 23. BROWN
4. PINK 14. TEAL 24. GRAY
5. FLAMINGO 15. GREEN 25. BLACK
6. LILAC 16. LIGHT GREEN 26. WHITE
7. LIGHT PURPLE 17. BEIGE 27. SILVER
8. PURPLE 18. LIGHT YELLOW 28. GOLD
9. BLUE 19. DARK YELLOW 29. COPPER
10. LIGHT BLUE 20. MARIGOLD 30. CHAMPAGNE

As you can see from my colour chart above each pen really does represent the colours chart on the side of the packaging. I was really surprised by this as I normally create colour swatches before working with any new colours as they are often represented. I love how Chromatek takes the time to make every detail count.
When you open one of these pens for the first time the nib will be completely dry. To activate the paint inside the marker you will need to shake the pen and then press the nib multiple times into a piece of paper. Once you push the nib in a few times you will be able to see the pain start to fill up the nib and they you will be able to use it.
Once you have activated pen the pain my start to dry on the nib over time, this is perfectly fine as the paint can be reactivated, If you find the pen running a little dry then shake and press the nib a few times. This will help to reactivate new paint and you will be able to use the pen again like new.
I have been able to try these pens and put them to the test. Firstly I wanted to see how the colours would stand out against each other so I decided to do an outlining using only coloured pens. As you can see from the drawing below each colour stands out against the others, you can clearly see when a colour ends and a new one begins even if the colours look a little similar.

I also then wanted to put just the black pen to the test, I often outline alof of my drawings with a thicker black marker so I thought this might be perfect. I created the same drawing as before but in all black pen, this allowed me to also see what kinds of detail I would be able to obtain with these markers.

After testing out this black pen I think it will be perfect for outlining some pieces especially where a thicker line is needed. I would maybe use a smaller nib pen to do some of the detailing work as some detail can be lost but it is great for creating thinker lines.
Next I wanted to see how these markers would stand up when colouring in a larger area. So I sketched out a small design and started colouring in the areas that I wanted. I then when back over in the black to outline I also decided to add some smaller details to help the image pop, and I absolutely love how this turned out. The colours are very vibrant and took to the cardstock really well.
Overall I am very happy with the Chromatek Paint Markers. I really like the storage that they come in, it allows me to keep everything together safely. I am a master at losing things so this will help me to keep all of the pens together. I enjoy the range of colours that are included, there is a wide range included and also different shades. Once the first layer of paint has dried you are able to go other in other colours to help gain different effects.
